Why Choose Lustrim

We Speak Your
Design Language.

Not every manufacturer understands fashion. We do — and that changes everything about how we work with you.

01

Your Sketch Becomes a Sample

You don't need a finished technical file to start. Send us a napkin sketch, a Pinterest board, or a reference piece — our team reads between the lines and turns intent into a physical prototype within days.

No CAD file? No problem.
Our engineers create production-ready drawings from your references.
Sample ready in 7–14 days.
Hold your design in your hands before a single production unit is made.
Revise until it's right.
We iterate with you — no rush, no extra charges for reasonable modifications.
02

Start Small. Scale When Ready.

You shouldn't need to order 5,000 pieces to test if a style sells. Our low MOQ lets emerging labels and established buyers alike move fast, reduce risk, and reinvest only in what the market wants.

MOQ from 100 pcs per design.
Launch a new style without tying up capital in unsold inventory.
Same price, same quality at any volume.
A 200-piece run receives the same craftsmanship as a 20,000-piece order.
Capacity grows with you.
When your bestseller needs a reorder of 10,000 units, we're ready.
03

No Surprises on Delivery Day.

Late shipments and last-minute quality issues have derailed more than a few collection launches. Our production timeline is structured, communicated at every stage, and built around your deadlines — not ours.

Milestone updates, every step.
You receive production photos and status reports without having to ask.

Your 3rd Reorder Looks Identical to Your 1st.

Inconsistent plating, shifted colors, and loose clasps on reorders have cost brands their customer trust. Our batch-to-batch consistency system exists specifically to prevent that.

Approved sample kept on file.
Every reorder is checked against your original approved sample — physically.
Pantone color locked in.
Enamel and plating tones are matched to your exact Pantone reference every time.

Brooch Buyer's Guide

What Every Brand Should Know
Before Customizing a Brooch.

From material choices to finish options, closure mechanics to compliance requirements — this guide gives you the knowledge to brief a manufacturer with confidence and get exactly what your brand needs.

Brooch placement ideas
The Basics

So, What Exactly Is a Brooch?

A brooch is a decorative accessory fastened to clothing, bags, hats, or scarves via a pin mechanism on its reverse. While its origins trace back to the Bronze Age — where fibulae were used as practical garment clasps — the modern brooch is primarily a statement of style and identity.

Today, brooches are one of the most commercially versatile accessories in the fashion hardware category. They appear across ready-to-wear, luxury, bridal, corporate gifting, and collectible merchandise — making them a high-value addition to almost any product line.

Base Materials

Zinc Alloy vs. Brass — Which Is Right for You?

The base metal you choose affects weight, cost, detail resolution, and how your finish looks over time. Here's what each option delivers in practice.

Zinc Alloy
The industry standard for fashion brooches
STRENGTH Excellent for detailed die-casting — captures sharp edges, fine text, and complex sculptural forms with precision.
WEIGHT Lighter than brass — ideal for larger statement pieces that need to sit comfortably on fabric without pulling.
COST More cost-effective than brass — best for fashion-grade runs, seasonal collections, and mid-range product lines.
BEST FOR Enamel fills, rhinestone settings, logo pins, seasonal fashion accessories, and large-format sculptural designs.
Brass
The premium choice for luxury-grade hardware
STRENGTH Denser and more rigid than zinc alloy — delivers a solid, weighty feel that signals quality to the end customer.
PLATING Holds plating exceptionally well over time — gold and silver finishes retain vibrancy far longer than on zinc.
COST Higher unit cost — but justified for investment pieces, gifting programs, or capsule collections with a premium price point.
BEST FOR Luxury accessories, fine fashion houses, heirloom bridal pieces, and high-end retail programs where longevity matters.
Plating & Finish

The Finish Defines How Your Piece Feels.

Beyond aesthetics, your plating choice affects compliance, wearability, and shelf life. Always specify nickel-free options if selling into the EU, UK, or US market — nickel restrictions are strictly enforced under REACH regulations.

⚠ Compliance Note

EU REACH regulations restrict nickel release for all items in prolonged skin contact. Always request a nickel-free or nickel-compliant specification when sourcing for European markets.

Gold (14k/18k)
Warm, classic tone. 18k delivers richer depth; 14k is most cost-efficient for fashion grade.
Silver
Clean, modern, gender-neutral. Works across seasonal and contemporary collections.
Rose Gold
Feminine warmth. Strong trend appeal across bridal, beauty, and lifestyle categories.
Rhodium
Bright white, tarnish-resistant, extremely durable. The preferred choice for fine fashion pieces.
Black Nickel
Edgy, graphic, matte or satin. Favored by streetwear and avant-garde labels.
Antique Brass
Oxidized, vintage feel. Popular in artisan, bohemian, and heritage-themed collections.
Color Fill Options

Soft Enamel, Hard Enamel — and Beyond.

Color fill is where your design truly comes to life. The method you choose determines texture, depth, durability, and how precisely your palette is reproduced.

Soft Enamel

Color sits recessed below raised metal edges, creating a tactile, dimensional surface. More affordable and widely used in fashion accessories.

Most Popular
Hard Enamel

Enamel is polished flush with the metal to create a smooth, glassy, jewellery-grade finish. More durable and premium in appearance — preferred for luxury and gifting.

Premium Grade
Resin Fill

Transparent or translucent resin applied over printed or textured bases — ideal for photographic effects, gradient fills, or depth-layered designs.

Specialty Effect
UV & Screen Print

Full-color printed surface sealed with UV coating — the go-to for photographic imagery, complex illustrations, or designs with more than 10 color zones.

Full Color Range

All color fills at Lustrim are matched to your Pantone PMS reference. We support up to 10 color zones per piece, and can incorporate glitter, glow-in-the-dark, and gradient effects on request.

Closures & Fastening

The Right Closure Protects Your Product — and Your Customer.

Choosing the wrong closure for your garment type, piece weight, or target customer is one of the most common sourcing mistakes. A locking pin back on a delicate blouse, or a standard catch on a 60g statement piece — both cause problems. The right match ensures your brooch performs as well as it looks.

Safety Pin Catch
The universal standard. A hinged pin with a locking barrel. Suitable for most mid-weight brooches on woven fabrics, coats, and scarves.
Butterfly Clutch
A push-fit back, ideal for lighter lapel pins. Quick to attach, but not recommended for heavy or large-format brooches.
Locking Pin Back
Screw-thread or lever-lock mechanism for heavy pieces over 15g. The only appropriate choice for 3D sculptural or heavily embellished brooches.
Magnetic Clasp
No piercing required. Suited for delicate knits and sheer fabrics where pin holes would be visible or damaging.
Market Context

Why the Brooch Market Is Expanding — and What That Means for You.

Brooches have reclaimed runway relevance and are now crossing over into lifestyle, corporate identity, and collectible markets. Major fashion houses like Chanel, Schiaparelli, and Dior have reintroduced elaborate brooch designs as centrepiece accessories — driving renewed demand at every price tier.

Gender-Neutral Styling
Brooches are now prominently styled on menswear — lapels, bags, and hats — opening significant new segments for buyers.
Limited Editions & Collectibles
Low-MOQ custom runs allow brands to test collectible drops — some limited editions command significant secondary market value.
Corporate Gifting & Brand Identity
Custom logo brooches are replacing conventional branded gifts — wearable identity pieces that carry brand visibility long after delivery.
Beyond Clothing
Brooches are now widely used on bags, hats, shoes, and home décor — expanding the commercial opportunity well beyond garment applications.
